Countdown to Eurovision
Soooo, it's the silly semi-finals for
Eurovision tonight. In protest to this ridiculousness I will naturally
restrict myself to watching the main final on Saturday, still having visited the
BBC page I have already picked out a couple of faves.
I'm liking
Lithuania's 'Love or Leave me' by 4FUN for their
loungey melancholy.
Romania's polka
tastic '
Liubi,
Liubi, I Love You' (
Todomondo) is good, as is
Belgium's 'Love Power' by the
KMG'S.
Switzerland's 'Vampires are alive' by
DJBobo is desperate to cash in on last year's schlock horror theme.
Apparently the big band sound of
Germany's 'Frauen Regier'n Die Welt' is favourite to win. It's by a guy called Roger Cicero, who alas isn't Germany's answer to Peter Cetera. Darn.
Perhaps my favourite is
Israel's 'Push the Button' by the frankly disturbingly named
Teapacks. With a lyric like:
"I don't want to die/ I want to see the flowers bloom/ Don't want to go kaboom, kaboom"
you can hardly blame me...
A full review of Saturday's contest may follow (haven't finished last years yet) so stay tuned.
